Just Arrived: The Fall Collection!

THE M2057 FALL COLLECTION HAS ARRIVED!

STUNNING NEW SHAPES + BOLD COLORS DEFINE THE SEASON

The Fall collection sees the continued exploration of Zaha Hadid that I began in the spring. Zaha’s work is so vast and compelling, there was still much to understand and so much more work to do. She was known as “the Queen of the Curve,” and she inspired me to examine how a garment moves over and around the body.

ZAHA COAT

Of course there had to be a piece named Zaha! This coat epitomizes all things Hadid—the surface design is outlined in pintucks and creates both curves on the surface and curves that define the body. The energy of this coat mirrors the lines and textures of buildings like 520 W 28th St on New York’s High Line.

MAVIS JACKET

Zaha often created dynamic geometric converging shapes, and the MAVIS wrap jacket features this kind of element. The color blocking also accentuates the shapes in the back and front. I love this jacket as a soft complement to leather pants like the JETT 2!

DAPHNE SKIRT

Other pieces evoke the weightlessness of Hadid’s curvilinear structures. The dramatic volume of the KATRINA cape and DAPHNE half-skirt seem to float off the body, while the asymmetric GABI skirt dips and soars around the legs as pintucked seams draw the eye from waist to hem.

LILITH DRESS

Our GEORGIA and STELLA dresses now have a full-length sleeved sister! LILITH has the same great fit, but with the zipper down the front to allow you to show as much leg or cleavage as you wish. Curving seams and color blocking further define the torso.

Finally, the color palette. I wanted to get away from traditionally muted, dark fall colors, and embrace the bright. With paint tubes in hand, I fell in love with lapis, a vibrant bluish purple, and chinois, a burnt red. Along with some of our new prints, fall is shaping up to be a colorful season.

Be well,

MARIA
