I recently returned from a trip to India with Chicago's Field Museum, where, on our extensive itinerary, we explored the culture's textile and jewelry traditions (more on this incredible journey soon!). Everyday my eyes and fingers would be overwhelmed with the colors, textures, and patterns of the gorgeous work we encountered, and I came home inspired to bring some of what I saw into M2057.
Kavita Behl and Shana Gulati are two astonishingly gifted jewelry artists who take inspiration from traditional Indian crafts and materials, and bring them to life in wholly unique and modern designs. Kavita embeds natural, colorful stones like lemon topaz and aquamarine in exquisitely carved silver cuffs and rings. Shana manipulates sliced raw diamonds in a fascinating way, creating deceptively flat and sparkling surfaces—you have never seen diamonds like these!
All of these pieces are handcrafted in India, and have a truly one-of-a-kind feel. I could not be happier to introduce them to the M2507 collection, and I hope you enjoy them!
Until next time,
Maria
