Behind the scenes: Spring 2020
“Spring is coming back to sunshine, longer days, lightening things up and letting go of winter gear."—Maria Pinto
While most of the country is in full winter mode, we at M2057 are welcoming spring. Well, at least when it comes to our newest collection. We are embracing the upcoming season and the promise of warmer weather with open arms and beautiful pieces that we’re sure you’ll be as excited about as we are. Here, we offer a close-up look at our recently debuted Spring 1 Collection.
Flower Power
For her newest collection, Maria found inspiration in flowers, in particular those represented in the beautiful photographs from acclaimed artists Robert Mapplethorpe and Nick Knight (look for a rose print to debut in the Spring 2 Collection). For Maria, it’s the elegant, organic lines found in flowers that sparked the soft folds that are part of so many of the pieces, including the graceful flare shape of the sleeves and inverted pleat at the back hem of Florine, a great spring take on a classic trench. Then there’s Tamar, a kimono-like jacket with beautiful bell sleeves. “It’s a soft way to get the power of a jacket with less structure,” says Maria. It pairs perfectly with our denim Hepburn pant for a night on the town or equally great over a dress for work. “With the new season, selecting a few key pieces that really work with what you already own is quite important,"adds Maria. And since comfort and washability are key to all the pieces at M2057, we are always looking for new fabrics that embrace those qualities. To wit: a new two-ply fabric pairs a top laser-cut layer in azure blue with a beautiful grey fabric underneath.
