Fall 2018 is a defining moment for the M2057 collection and for me as a designer—for the first time we achieved the longtime goal of creating custom, limited edition prints from my own paintings, which were in turn inspired by the work of photographer Sandro Miller, and the series of portraits he took of the natives of Papua New Guinea.

The rawness that I saw in Sandro's work inspired me to paint—the patterns have movement and energy, balanced by the colors from nature. I took the essence of those paintings and interpreted them into prints that felt complementary to the new shapes for fall. The names of these new prints—Moresby, Tufi, Wewak, and Daru—are taken from cities and towns in Papua New Guinea. This has been a thrilling process and will continue to inform future collections of M2057.
